Inside U.S. Coast Guard Boot Camp
Share
We took a trip to Cape May, New Jersey, to visit the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center where we had the opportunity to learn about the intense 8-week training program and gain an inside look at the life of Coast Guard recruits. As soon as we arrived, I was instantly thrown into the mix. From the moment I stepped onto the bus, I was introduced to the commanding officer, participated in training drills, toured the facilities, and took part in numerous other activities.
I was truly impressed by the recruits' determination to succeed throughout boot camp. The commanding officer and company commanders pushed them to their limits, but for good reason. At graduation, I had the privilege of witnessing some of the most intelligent, strong, and proud young men and women, now ready to serve as active members of the United States Coast Guard. A Day In The Life at U.S. Coast Guard Station Oak Island
We got invited to come check out USCG Station Oak Island, and man what a cool experience it was. I've never been to an active Coast Guard station before, so it was all new to me. They even let us run our 33’ Onslow Bay to the station! We got to tour the entire station, see all the vessels, run one of their boats, and ultimately learn what it's like to be in the U.S. Coast Guard.
